There are many coaches that have influenced my life as both an athlete, and a coach. John Wooden is, I believe, one of the greatest coaches of our time. His Pyramid of Success is an excellent MODEL for athletes, teams, coaches, and organizations.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

I value CHARACTER in an athlete as well as ability.

The scoreboard is merely a REFLECTION of what we do in practice, and what lies inside of us.

There is no such thing as EQUAL playing time, but there is EQUAL practice time.

Focus on TACTICS not EMOTIONS.

I will NEVER physically or mentally harm a child in my care.

Begin and end practice ON TIME.

WINNING is a TEAM effort, and we will ALWAYS strive to win.

There is no INDIVIDUAL placed above the TEAM.

PRACTICE is about maximizing reps and working at GAME SPEED, in ALL WAYS - ALWAYS.

PLAYERS need to be accountable. To themselves, the coaches, and MOST IMPORTANTLY - each other.

Communication with PARENTS is vital and open, but please adhere to the following guidelines:
-Please wait 24 hours after a match before contacting any
coach with concerns:
-Refrain from discussing playing time or strategy.
-Refrain from discussing other players, parents, coaches, or
administration.

I will RESPECT the referees and their decisions.

Players, Coaches, Parents and Fans should REPRESENT the school, team and community in a positive way.

Being a STUDENT ATHLETE is a privilege and players will be expected to maintain the highest standards regarding academics, sportsmanship and social behavior.

HISTORY

I have been teaching science and coaching girls varsity volleyball for 25 years. I am Nationally Certified in Biology and have taught AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, Biology Honors, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and Marine Science. I currently teach Honors Biology and Honors Environmental Science at Walton High School in Defuniak Springs Florida. In addition to coaching volleyball I have also coached sand volleyball, varsity softball, boys volleyball, girls tennis, and boys golf.

From 2015-2019 I was the Co-Director of Bay United Elite Volleyball in Panama City Beach,
Florida. My rival coach and best friend (Michelle Mask-Mosley HS) and I successfully built and
ran a 14 team travel club serving Bay and the surrounding counties. Several of our teams
qualified for nationals, and many of our former players are now playing in college.
I was a four sport varsity athlete in high school (volleyball, basketball, softball, and track)
I also played intercollegiate volleyball and softball for Asbury University in Wilmore, KY. I
later attended Palm Beach Atlantic University & the University of Florida where I earned my
degrees in Secondary Education, Biology, and Human Anatomy & Physiology.
